Information, advice and guidance (IAG) is an essential part of all our delivery.  IAG is the process of providing professional and impartial support and advice to you the customer allowing you to make the right decisions regarding your future and choices and specifically in relation to your learning and career development. 


Our IAG includes:

  • Providing objective information relating to the learning opportunities we offer and other learning opportunities available in the local community or wider afield

  • Routes into sustained employment and possible routes of career progression and sectors where suitable employment opportunities are currently available

  • Provision of guidance and support in overcoming personal barriers to employment and learning

  • Support to you in your personal and professional development.


At Burleigh you will be supported by IAG from our qualified advisers

  • Before you enrol on your course with us

  • At agreed times during delivery of your course

  • When you leave your course

  • When you progress into work or further training


We have been Matrix accredited (the quality standard for Information Advice and Guidance) since 2003.  This quality standard which we work to gives you assurance that we will give you fair and objective advice.  Where we believe that your best interests would be served by undertaking a programme which we do not deliver, we will tell you and refer you to another Provider.  These services are available to all our learners

We also work with a specialist IAG provider who can provide external IAG and job opportunities through 1-1 appointments


At our last Matrix assessment in 2015, our Assessor found

‘Burleigh College continues to be client centred, impartial and objective within the context of a purposeful learning environment. Operational staff were eager to discuss their “passionate” approach to learner support within the context of their job function because they felt they were making a real difference. In particular, interviewees described the need to engage Burleigh College clients by removing a range of obstacles to learning including cultural barriers and low confidence levels. In turn, Burleigh College clients confirmed that the given support process is greatly valued within their training programme’.
