Functional Skills English

Functional Skills English qualifications enable learners to develop confidence and fluency in, and a positive attitude towards, English.

Learners will be able to competently use English in the real world and gain a sound grasp of basic English knowledge and skills. The knowledge and skills also help learners progress into employment or further/higher technical education and develop skills for everyday life. They’re suitable for a range of learners and are fundamental for completing various qualifications and frameworks, such as Apprenticeships, Access to Degree courses, Vocational courses which require a certain level of English, and Traineeships.

There are 5 ability levels:

• Functional Skills English Entry 1

• Functional Skills English Entry 2

• Functional Skills English Entry 3

• Functional Skills English Level 1

• Functional Skills English Level 2

Functional Skills English courses comprise 3 Units - Speaking & Listening, Reading, and Writing

Course duration per level is approximately 10 – 12 weeks
